IMG_0067Initial thoughts: When I was offered to review a personalised cake from Baker Days I was really excited. The thought of cake through the post is one that would make anyone smile. When I saw their website and realised that you can basically have anything you want on a cake sent to the person you want it sent to my mind went into overdrive. Oh the possibilities. I decided on the cake I wanted, including size, design and recipe and then personalised it with my own wording. Then I just waited.

I liked: I had no idea how you could send a cake in the post without it getting trashed but it arrived with no problems. These letterbox size cakes fit through your letterbox (well, now I write it that sounds obvious) so no need to be in to receive it making it the perfect surprise. It comes in a tin in a cardboard box and is a perfect 4 portion size. I immediately set to doing as the cake was telling me and had a lovely slice with a cup of tea. We had the chocolate chip version and it was delicious.

I didn’t like: The only thing I found was that on the literature in the box it says to follow on Facebook and Twitter but the page / account names are not included so I had to guess so I could find @Bakerdays on Twitter.

Overall: I think that these are a lovely idea for a little surprise for someone special. There are so many occasion cakes and you can even upload your own photo. The Baker Days website states that you can order up to 1pm for next day delivery. A letterbox cake cost £14.99 with free delivery which isn’t bad if you think you could send one instead of flowers which can be really expensive.

Further information: Visit the Baker Days website to view the huge selection of cakes available. Maybe you could send the one you love a Baker Days cake this Valentine’s Day.

I have seen a few of these reviews and your design is the one I found the most appealing. Actually it’s the only one that makes me want to send a cake in the post :) that’s a lovely idea.
