52 Project – 2013

I really enjoyed taking part in the 52 project – a portrait of each of my children once a week in 2013. I love some of the photos so much, and having a tangible record of how Piran and Kate have changed over the year is fantastic. I am not yet decided if I am going to do anything special with the photos themselves but I couldn’t resist making these to see them at the start and the end of 2013.

It takes my breath away when I think how much our boy has changed in the last twelve months. He has grown in size and personality and confidence and I am so proud of him that words aren’t enough.

From her first unsteady walk on Gwithian Beach to this climbing, dancing, singing, running, shouting, laughing, talking bundle of joy and craziness. What a year. What a girl.

As I said I enjoyed recording a year in this way but at times I found it really frustrating – it got harder when Piran started school, I just wasn’t taking pictures with my DSLR or even my phone nearly as much and as a result I posted pictures I wasn’t happy with because it was that or miss a week and I am no good at missing a week! So I managed all 52 but at times I didn’t like the pictures at all.

I have been thinking about where to go from here and what to do in 2014 and after looking at these pictures that I took at the end of 2013 I have decided that I would like to capture a picture of Piran and Kate together for each month in 2014 – Twelve photographs that will not only capture how they change but also an insight into their relationship at this age. They are very close and I don’t know if that will last forever so I want to capture it while I can.

Plus I think the out-takes will be great fun.

Happy 2014 x

This is a lovely idea for the coming year, and adore the prospect of out takes.

Thank you, I can’t wait to see some of those myself. Getting a picture of the two of them together sitting still or acting sensibly is almost impossible.
