This and that

21 minute long post!

August 2, 2005

I have 29 minutes left at work. Today has dragged away. So boring. All I have done all day is read other people’s blogs really. The odd order and answered the phone when it has rung but I reckon that all the work I did today could have been done in just over a hour. I have been here for 7.

The past week or so I have been reading a blog called Twenty-Something by a guy called Patrick. I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed it more than any other blog that I have come across so far and if I pluck up the courage I would like to email him and say hi. I started reading it last week and this weekend was frustrating as I wanted to read more but I was stuck in dial up hell and had forgotten to email the link from my work PC to my ibook at home. Silly Kel!

Well I have finished reading it today and may I say that I am gutted. I really like his writing and will definately be keeping that one on my favourites list.

20 minutes left until I can escape this non-air conditioned hell and hot foot it home to a cold beer in the pub. It is just a hop skip and a jump from our front door to our local The Portland Rock Bar. They do some great live music in there and it is pretty cheap. No fancy wine bar for us, this place comes with drunks, sticky carpets and happy hour! I love it. Reminds me of the pub back home.

I know that I always feel low when I come back from Cornwall to the hustle bustle of the Brighton area but this time is particually bad. Breaking up with Jon really didn’t help but I think that the main thing is that the sun stayed behind a cloud the whole time I was there and I didn’t get to go to the beach, even for a little stroll. I guess that is why these lyrics have been going round my head all day.

“Echo Beach” Martha and the Muffins

I know it’s out of fashion
And a trifle uncool
But I can’t help it
I’m a romantic fool
It’s a habit of mine
To watch the sun go down
On Echo Beach
I watch the sun go down

From nine to five I have to spend my time at work
My job is very boring – I’m an office clerk
The only think that helps me pass the time away
Is knowing that I’ll be back at Echo Beach some day

On some enchanted evening
The sky’s alive with lights
Our building in the distance is a surrealistic sight
On Echo Beach waves make the only sound
On Echo Beach there’s not a soul around

Fron nine to five I have to spend my time at work
My job is very boring – I’m an office clerk
The only think that helps me pass the time away
Is knowing that I’ll be back at Echo Beach some day

Taking out the Echo and replacing it with Hayle obviously.

Ahhh a perfect moment to add a picture of my true home, Hayle’s three miles of golden sand.

Ok so 8 minutes left and I am going to post this and get my shit together for a quick getaway!
