Ask Fairy

April 21, 2006

I just went and looked at Friday’s feast and the questions have not changed since yesterday. which means I have no questions to answer and I feel quite bereft as I quite enjoy doing them as a start of the last day of the week at work. Because working would be like, boring!

So I have decided to get you to ask me the questions. You ask, I answer and update the post as we go along.

If you want to that is! Go on, ask me anything……

Adz is doing this as well if you want to ask him something.

Update: The Friday’s Feast now has questions up but I will save them for Monday :o)

Firstly from the Lovely Lèonie:

Is there a film or book (or both) that you feel has been particularly influential on your life and on your development as a person?

Do you know, I don’t think that there really is. Does that make me incredibly shallow? I love reading, I love books but I don’t have a faithful companion book that I have read again and again that I have always owned a copy of.

Finding Nemo makes me want to be a fish but that is more me being childish.

Oh perhaps this is because I never really grew up.

On the subject of books I have just read The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I thought it was a beautiful book that I enjoyed so much that I kept having to make myself stop reading so it didn’t end too soon.

From the Marvellous Mouldy:

Who was the best person you ever lived with and why?

Well it certainly wasn’t you. Although we did have a lot of fun you were very messy and the worst washer upper I have ever come across.

The best is G#1. She is very clean and tidy and that makes me be better at clearing up after myself. We have fun and we get on so well. Plus I have known her forever!

From the Humourous Huw:

Where’d the name Dancinfairy come from?

New Years Eve 1999 I went out dressed as a fairy. It was one of those crazy nights were everything was just so much fun and you have a great, great time. The following year I wore the same costume and had another fantastic night like the first. That night I walked around the pub telling complete strangers that I was the New Year Fairy and giving them one wish which I would then grant by tapping them on the head with my wand. My boyfriend at the time made some comment about me being a Dancing Fairy later that night and then from that point it just kind of stuck, changing with my mood / what was happening. So one day I would be Happy Fairy, the next Sad Fairy, Poorly Fairy, Silly Fairy….you get the idea. It just popped into my mind when I signed up for Blogger so I chose that.

From the Almighty Adam:

Name something that instantly drives you mad.

Chris Martin from Coldplay. He immediately brings out an urge to bash him over the head with a shovel. I have no idea why.

I cannot listen to radio stations that fuzz with static.

From the Radiant Running 42K:

What is your dream vacation?

Two week tour of European cities with lots of sightseeing and culture and fabulous food and drink followed by a week relaxing on a beach, somewhere warm but not too hot, with pale sand and turquoise seas. With plenty of cocktails and some fantastic books to read.

From the Dashing Doug:

Tell us when you think you lost your innocence (and I don’t mean virginity). I’m talking about when as a child you finally realized that the world wasn’t safe and candy coated and that mom/dad couldn’t always prtect you. I know that’s kind of sad but after seeing that you read the time travellers wife (which I also recently read) it seemed a fitting question.

It is funny but I was having a conversation with Paul in the pub last night about when my parents got divorced. I was telling him about how I felt when I found out and how it completely changed my life. I was 10 and I realised quite suddenly that my Mum would need my help and strength a lot more. From the age of 10 until I was 13 when my younger brother moved out to go and live with my Dad I looked after him a great deal. I took a lot of responsibility that I feel that I wouldn’t have needed to if my parents were still together. I have always felt that my life became must more grown up and serious overnight and that I lost a part of my childhood. Some other stuff happened when I was 10 that I won’t go into but I definitely learnt my parents wouldn’t always be there to protect me.

From the Jaunty Jonathan:

I know this one has been done many times but here goes anyway: If you could only listen to 3 cds for the rest of your life what would they be? I know “and why” usually follows but I will leave that up to you if you want to answer that part. 🙂

Oh my, this is so very hard.

Fleetwood Mac – Greatest Hits
Just because this has been in my collection the longest and I have never got tired of listening to it so I think it would be a safe bet.

B52’s – Good Stuff
Because no matter how down I am feeling Track 2 ‘Hot Pants Explosion’ will always make me smile and laugh.

Madonna – Like a Prayer
For honest to goodness sing a long reasons. I love this album and I know all the words and it’s great to play loud (so as to drown out my rubbish singing!)

All of them are old albums. I own lots of new stuff but these are staples and it is so hard to pick just three!

From the Adventurous Anonymous Co-worker

Name your three favorite foods. Now tell us which one you would be able to give up forever, and why.

Cheese
Chocolate
Fish

Of the three I would be able to give up chocolate. I have killer sweet cravings but they can be met with cheesecake :o)

From the Ravishing Retro Girl:

Is there one song you consider your “Anthem” or that you really identify with as describing you or a situation in your life? If so, what is the song, why? And would you post the lyrics?

Now this one I have an easy answer to. My favourite song is ‘Echo Beach’ by Martha and The Muffins. Whenever I am feeling low about work and that it is dragging me down and stifling me as an individual it will always remind me that it is just as means to an end and that in my spare time I can go out and see and experience everything that I miss when I am stuck in an office. It also reminds me of where I have come from and how beautiful it is and the special kind of solitude that you can only find in somewhere so remote and beautiful where the sounds of daily life fade away and there is just me and nature.

I have posted the lyrics before but here they are again.

I know it’s out of fashion
And a trifle uncool
But I can’t help it
I’m a romantic fool
It’s a habit of mine
To watch the sun go down
On Echo beach,
I watch the sun go down

From nine till five I have to spend my time at work
The job is very boring, I’m an office clerk
The only thing that helps pass the time away
Is knowing I’ll be back at Echo Beach some day

On a silent summer evening
The sky’s alive with light
Building in the distance
Surrealistic sight
On Echo Beach
Waves make the only sound
On Echo Beach
There’s not a soul around

From nine till five I have to spend my time at work
The job is very boring, I’m an office clerk
The only thing that helps pass the time away
Is knowing I’ll be back at Echo Beach some day

Echo Beach
Far away in time
Echo Beach
Far away in time

From the K Kenny:

How awesome am I on a scale of 100 million to one billion?

Well Kenny, as I do not know you as a person then I am not sure I am qualified to answer how awesome you actually are.

However, in the interests of fairness I will have a go. The definition is someone that inspires awe. Well, if this is the case then my answer can only be purely subjective as it depends how much awe you inspire in me.

In the pursuit of answering this question I read a few of your posts on your blog and although you honestly do not appeal to my tastes I admire your no nonsense attitute and your honesty particually in this post.

So I am going to say around 673,964,009.

Okay?

Oh, I have the same dilemma as well, so in good blog nicking, please ask me a question. Even if you don’t know me, it means you can ask stuff without offending me!:)

    1. If you were reborn, what would you want to be reborn as?

    2. If you could go back in time, what would you want to see and why?

    3. What do you think the world would have been like without WWI and WWII?

    4. If magic existed, what would be your favorite spell?

    5. If you had a choice between Hitler and Satan, who would you date and why?

You don’t have to answer all of them if you don’t want to. Pick the ones you like..
