Kelly-Marie, 27, was disappointed this morning when a cunningly conceived plan to annoy Paul, age too old to mention, by playing a Mariah Carey CD on the car stereo when driving to work failed completely.

When questioned about the incident Kelly-Marie said that she feels that the timing of the event was off and this could have contributed to the failure of her plan. “I should have remembered that Paul is never particularly on the ball in the morning and very often doesn’t even notice things going on straight in front of him. I can usually gauge how much sleep he has had by how close he holds the newspaper to his face. Also The Sun is a very engaging read and takes a lot of his concentration. With hindsight I think that I should have tried my plan after work when Paul is usually more awake and perky”.

“I do feel a bit silly though” she went on to say “as the plan totally backfired as I had to listen to Mariah Carey for 20 mins and I can’t stand that sort of music. To make it worse I don’t seem to be able to get one of the tracks out of my head”.

Paul was unavailable to comment.

I hate the woman! It’s typical of us men. Men are useless at noticing things. As Kate kindly reminded me, I never noticed it when she dyed her hair from bleach blonde to red! We are just useless!

You could try playing it again on the journey home… but obviously you do run the risk of having Mariah Carey in your head for your whole Verona trip then, and I’d hate to have that on my conscience.

I once sang ‘Hero’ at a piano bar. In public.

    This was quite recently.

You shouldn’t play with such dangerously high-pitched noises whilst operating heavy machinery. Usually I would wholeheartedly approve of torture but this? Is almost too much.

Ear worms are nasty songs that get stuck in your ears and keep playing….bastards

I suggest you listen to the song again as this usually gets it out my head, although i’m assuming it’s gone out your head now.
