Butterflies

October 6, 2005

Unfortunately not the pretty ones. Just the ones in my stomach.

They have been a flap, flap, flapping all day so far.

Why? You ask. Because after reading this post by Dating Dummy, particualy this part:

“It turns out that by creating your own inertia and momentum – having a life, being sociable, taking care of your own interests – it creates a kind of energy that people naturally become attracted to.”

I decided that it was time to get out there and do something new and exciting that I have never done before. Ever since I dropped out of Uni at the tender age of 18 I have always made a point of constantly learning by doing evening courses and things. But they have always been of the academic variety so this time I decided it was time for something new.

So tonight I start a vocal coaching course. It is only a hour and a half once a week but I am completely scared out of my mind because I seriously have no idea whether I am completely tone deaf or with a little bit of help I will manage to hold a tune.

I’m excited too (in a kind of paralysed by fear sort of way). I really hope that I will manage to meet some new people and gain some extra confidence from this. Because as I state in my profile I am painfully shy around strangers.

I’ll let you know how I get on!

Me and signing are like oil and water. They don’t mix now and won’t every mix in the future. I can’t hold a tune at all. Can’t dance either.

I am so proud of you! That’s awesome. I’ve always wanted to take ballroom dance lessons but I’m too chicken to go. Maybe some day I’ll work up the courage. Good for you and I know you’ll have loads of fun. 🙂
