Best laid plans and all that. I was meant to get organised and post this yesterday but with getting ready to go away, half term and a stinking cold everything has just got by me. Anyway, better late than never I bring you the first of my ten guests on my blog, here to help me celebrate my 10 year blogging anniversary in July. Gemma always makes me laugh and is the best companion at blogging events which is where we usually get together. She was so much fun at Blogtacular last year – I can’t wait to see her again this year. Do visit her blog and I hope you enjoy the post below. I for one love the idea of being giddy as a kipper.
10 things that make me happy
1. Snowdonia mountains.
In my 20’s, I discovered mountain walking and rock climbing. Opportunities to walk up a mountains are, these days, limited. There is a physical challenge but mostly it is food for the soul. I literally drink in the views, the beauty of the landscape. Walking up Welsh mountains has been a place of escape, a place to re-boot and a place where I have laughed till my face hurt. I have travelled across the world and for me mountains of Snowdonia are are one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
Nothing beats crouching over a stove making tea in the still of morning, only birdsong for company. The soft light and long shadows at the end of the day, the sound of children, a plastic glass of cold wine. I love a bit of camping.
3. A menu
My appetite is huge, it is also vegetarian. Browsing a menu, the expectation of someone else cooking, combined with interesting and imaginative choice of vegetarian food makes me giddy as a kipper.
4. Exploring New Places
My partner and I share a love of exploring, there is nothing we love more than visiting somewhere we haven’t been before and wandering the streets. Seaside town and towns on rivers are favourites. When I was pregnant we drove across France and I have precious memories of stopping in random small towns and villages and just wandering.
Sometimes blogging overwhelms me, I don’t think I’m doing it very well and I suffer comparison fatigue. Actually, I really enjoy writing and taking photos. I’m really grateful for all the opportunities I have through blogging. I am continually learning. Blogging has introduced me to many lovely people and given me friends. See: Kelly (that’s me!)
The hotter the better. I am definitely happiest in Summer. Outside is always best.
You choose your friends. Good ones are there through thick and thin. It doesn’t matter when you were last together, pick up where you left off.
It has taken me a long time to appreciate family. Our family is small but it’s good one. Being with my partner and son is, most of the time, ace.
My favourite flower, a carpet of woodland bluebells lit by sunshine makes my heart sing.
My son’s laugh; that makes me happy.
What makes you happy?
I have asked ten bloggers to guest post for me in the run up to my 10 year anniversary at the start of July. I really hope that you enjoy these posts, and visit their blogs to say hello, or wave on Twitter. Each one of them has been a special part of my blogging life and I am so honoured to call them my friends.
