Made it: Carrier Bag Holder

May 24, 2013

The weather is making me feel grumpy and with a holiday on the horizon I wanted to make the most of my child free time today. I only have a couple of hours and just wanted to sew something quick and simple.

I have been meaning to make one of these carrier bag holders to hang in the larder cupboard – we don’t have many hanging round these days with all the reusable bags but they do come in handy occasionally.

I found a simple online tutorial and got sewing. It was so quick and easy, one episode of Isy Suttie’s Love Letters and I was finished. I even did a french seam for the first time ever.

This Michael Miller fabric was perfect – I have been thinking of using this for kitchen items and it looks great. I am thinking about making some table runners from this as well.

I love how it looks in this corner of the kitchen but that hook is where my calendar usually hangs and no calendar = life collapsing before our eyes so it will have to go into the cupboard instead. Perhaps I will leave it there for today so I can admire my handiwork.

Sorry the pictures aren’t great – horrible weather = grumpy me and nowhere with decent light to take photographs.

That’s really lovely and the fabric is very refreshing. I know what you mean I couldn’t remove my calendar from the wall. My whole life would collapse too!
