Made it: Rainbow Geranium Dress

April 28, 2014

I have made a few items of clothing for Kate in the past. I really want to make her a lovely dress for my brother’s wedding in June but I wanted a trial run first so I made her a Geranium dress – pattern is from Made by Rae. This was my first go at making one of her patterns and it was really good. I had no problems following the instructions and once I had started was unable to stop, staying up past my bedtime to just get it done.

Kate’s verdict was positive. The dress has pockets but she can’t seem to find them in the seams. Not sure what I could do about that, any suggestions welcome. She loves this fabric and the dress. I made a 3T and it fits perfectly on top and has quite a long skirt. As I am making a dress for her to wear in a few weeks I will use the same size but if I make it again I will use the 4T bodice I think. It twirls well and that’s all Kate really wants in a dress.

And I think she looks so adorable in it.

This was item 6 on my Q2 Finish Along list. I can’t believe a month has almost gone already. I need to get sewing!

It’s very sweet! Can you add piping to the edge of the pocket so she can feel/see the seam edge?

Oh that is a good idea. I will try it on the next one.

Maybe for this one you could stitch a bit of chain or ribbon along the edge of it, embroider or buttonhole stitch the edge or add a button or bow?
