Make it Monday: Modern Medallion Quilt Progress

October 8, 2012

Today I spent the morning working on the next round of my Handstitched Class Quilt. I forgot to mention last week that it is called a Modern Medallion Quilt.

I struggled at times today, when I came to stitch it together it wasn’t quite right, the lengths didn’t match up so there was quite a lot of bodging and fudging as I went along but I got there in the end. It is now too big to photograph on the table so I have to do it on the floor whilst balanced precariously on the sofa.

After some Twitter and Instagram advice I have decided to go with ‘Lagoon’ for the next round which is just a solid colour which will showcase a hand quilted design. I placed an order with Simply Solids today so I might be able to get that next part done on Friday.

I started cutting out the strips for the final pieced border around the edge but got fed up so I need to do more of that another day. I really don’t like cutting fabric much, I think someone should charge to do it for you, I would definitely take them up on that. Maybe they could link it up with my drive through Starbucks / Post Office concept. These are the things that I need in my life.

It was an online course I started in May I think and it finished at the end of the summer. Thankfully I signed up for the version with an ebook at the end so I can just plod along at my own place. More info here : http://www.stitchedincolor.com/p/online-classes.html it is the Handstitched one. It was only around £35 and well worth it I feel. There were loads of other projects as well as the quilt.
