Make it Monday: The Book Project – Hats and Scarves

October 15, 2012

I am slightly shocked this week to discover it is already Monday. I am really going to have to keep an eye on that if I am going to manage to keep to my plan to make at least one thing a week from my craft and sewing books.

An easy one to start with this week, and not a Christmas present. All of a sudden it is colder and blustery and my small people needed new hats and scarves. The shop where I work has a great range of fleeces so I grabbed a couple pieces last week and using the instructions from The Sewing Book I made a hat and scarf each for Piran and Kate.

I made a mistake on Kate’s hat and sewed the fleece the wrong way which meant that it didn’t stretch. Luckily the off cut was the same size so I had a second go. I was worried that I wouldn’t find anything to make from this book, it is more a reference book for all types of sewing and it was the first book I bought when I bought my machine when pregnant with Piran. It is really comprehensive and I have always found it useful and easy to follow.

I was hoping to have a picture of them modelling their new cold weather gear but they are both grumpy and have a sickness bug so this will have to do for now.

Thank you very much. If only they would keep them on their heads.
