This week on the Book Project I have dragged out one of the first sewing books I ever bought – Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter which has a range of projects for the home and out and about. It is split into 4 sections Cook, Go, Nest and Organise. I have made a number of items from this book and I have always found the instructions easy to follow and the styling is great – I love all her fabric choices. In fact she actually designs fabrics as well now and some of my sewing time today was taken up making a bag for my stepmum’s Christmas present out of some fabric from her Bella line which I just love.
I am really pleased with how these turned out. I forgot to include the hanging ribbon / tape but these are a present for my mum for her birthday and I know she keeps them in a drawer so that’s not a problem. I used scraps of fabric from previous projects, one of which was a teacosy that I made her so they should match.
Also today I made this bag as I mentioned above (from the Bella fabric with the sweetest Michael Miller fabric as the lining that has tiny anchors on it, I love it so much). Finally I made these two little drawstring bags for mum to keep her reading glasses in, she has a habit of losing them, and she likes these pouches as they are colourful and easy to spot. The fact I have to make her more every few months just goes to show that they are not a foolproof plan for not mislaying things. My mum always tells us what she wants for presents but I love that I can now make things that she wants and therefore make them special through my fabric choices.
