From next week we are back into the cycle of Mr C being away with work, meaning that he will leave on Sundays and not be back until Friday evening. With Piran’s swimming lessons starting again on Saturdays now the new term is starting I am all too aware that full free days together as a family are non existent over the next few weeks.
So yesterday, despite the chance of rain I ensured that we all bundled in the car and went out to spend time together in the fresh air. We love our National Trust membership and definitely get our money’s worth. We always seem to visit Nymans at this time of year, when the boarders are choc full of dahlias. I remember our first visit there three years ago with Piran as a tiny baby, and it is amazing to see him wearing his superhero cape, running, shouting and playing. Last year Kate was a bundle that slept most of the way round. This year she chased her brother in and out of tents.
It made me think how much happier we feel and how much easier we get along when we are outside. Something I should really ensure that I remember over the coming months of solo parenting and colder and wetter weather. Autumn is my favourite time of year and I am going to grab hold of every decent day and make the most of it. To make enough memories to get us through the darker days of winter.
