Yours Truly

Once in a Blue Moon

August 31, 2012

Tonight is a Blue Moon, which is what the second full moon in a month is called. It is a rather rare thing, the next is in July 2015 I believe.

Today I had a day to myself, the first in a while without plans or responsibilities and I made myself a promise that I would put aside all practical matters and just concentrate on doing nice things just for me. I needed to fill my pebble jar.

So I had time to wash, dry and straighten my hair. To choose an outfit without answering a million questions. Time to meet my husband for a drink and some breakfast. Time to enjoy the bright, crisp sunshine and browse round the shops. Time to try on clothes without corralling or amusing bored children. Time to discover new shops and rifle through baskets of hexagons with old 1970’s newspapers in the back. Time to go to my first quilt show and be inspired by what I saw there. Time to finish a sewing project. Time to conquer the WP mountain. Time to meet a friend for a late coffee and chat. Time to pass with a little hand sewing and a chai latte before going to pick my babies up.

It has been a very lovely day indeed. I will definitely make sure that I don’t have to wait until July 2015 for my next one.

(On a slightly unrelated note, who stole my baby and left this toddler in her place?)

Have just discovered your blog and I love it!! I am new to the world of blog both reading and writing! Am grateful for any tips! I think your pebble idea is great, I only wish someone had given me that advice when I was post natal!!! Keeping your own identity is essential and you sound like you gave a great balance :))

Thank you for your comment. Blogging is great fun and really helps me deal with stuff. After seven years I don’t know what I’d do without it. I’m always happy to give advice if you want to know anything.
