I am very sorry that this letter is a month late, holidays plus a busy summer means that I am behind with everything. We have been out making memories instead and that is the best thing anyway.
So, what are you like? You are noise. You are laughter. You are screams of joy, you are screams when something doesn’t go your way. You are all hair, curls that go blonder each day. Beautiful blue eyes that constantly twinkle with mischief. A funny face and a laugh is hard to distinguish from a cry sometimes. You are full of energy from the moment you get up – which is often 5am. You are good at having a nap but it doesn’t last as long as I would like most of the time. You only have one sleep a day these days.
You make us laugh so much. You talk a lot. You can say loads of words but use Mummy, Daddy, Nanny, Shoe, Ow, Oh-no, Sit, Bubba (your soft toys), Fank-ooo regularly. You love singing and dancing and you are at the stage where you mimic the sounds of words put together and can sing songs that I recognize. You eat well and still love your milk. You can communicate with us quite well these days and can definitely make yourself known. Today you have shown me that you want milk, let me know you have done a poo and asked to go to bed by standing at the bottom of the stairs shouting until I opened the stair gate and let you go up.
You loved being on the beach when we were on holiday but you ate A LOT of sand. I have never seen nappies like it. I can always tell if you have played with sand at nursery by the contents of your nappy next morning. You eat everything to be honest and it drives me mad. I can’t even get the washing in off the line without you wandering past getting your hands stuck into the dirt or stones and trying to munch away.
You were a much happier girl the whole time we were in Cornwall this August and it was wonderful. It has just seemed that every time we have gone that you have been unhappy, only wanting Mummy and all of our family hadn’t had chance to meet the beautiful, crazy, funny girl that we all know and love. They have now though and it makes me so happy. You prefer men to women and so Grandad John and Grandad Derek didn’t get a moments peace when you were around. You held your arms up and shouted until you were up in their arms again. You are a real Daddy’s girl and spend all day every day asking “Where Daddy?” I hope that you will be okay with it just being me and Piran during the week for a while, your Daddy will spoil you at weekends.
You are brilliant at walking now and so steady on your feet. You follow Piran around all the time. You love him very much and want to be with him all the time. The two of you bicker a lot (well Piran does something to upset you and you scream at him) but you love to tickle and wrestle each other as well. It is so lovely to see the way that you look at him and sometimes if you are really upset only Piran can snap you out of it. Last week he pretended to be a dog until you laughed.
You are stubborn and give out when things do not go your way. You scream when Nanny and Aunty Alison leave. You scream when you see outsode but I won’t let you out. You scream a lot! You seem to be fearless. Yoou love to climb and keep getting stuck and I have to come and move you. You have just got your first sit down scooter and you love to ride it, either sat on it properly or pushing it along.
We love you so much baby girl, you really do bring sunshine and laughter into my life. I love that you are so strong and fearless and I hope that will continue for a long time. We had a bumpy start but you are so happy now that everything is fading fast into the background. You make our family feel complete. I look at Piran so grown up and wonder what you will be like at his age. I think I will have my hands full but I can’t wait to have lots of adventures with you. You are so beautiful that some days you take my breath away.
Stay happy, have fun.
Love Mum x
