Pin It : Make It {Folded Fabric Star}

February 12, 2014

The Finish Along 2014 is making me think about how I spend my time and how to make the best use of it. I was thinking about Pinterest the other day {you can follow me here} and although I use it sporadically the main reason I use it is to collect things that I really want to do.

So I am starting a new series here on my blog. Pin It : Make It.

How exciting! I will share the results of the things that I make that are either things that I have pinned or where inspired by things I pinned. And I have my first one today. I pinned this fabric star a very long time ago and although the instructions are in Langwish (as Piran calls anything that is not English) I could follow the pictures quite successfully and I stuck it into Google translate just to be sure I wasn’t missing anything vital.

I picked some fabrics from my stash and sat down to give it a go recently. It was a fun little project and quite quick. I went wrong to start with because I didn’t think through which fabrics would be next to each other when I was done but once I worked that out it was all great. The way you fold the fabric initally does mean that it is quite bulky so I plan on having another go sometime soon and think about how to reduce that.

I love how it looks hanging on the branches on our table.

These were my Ilex branches from December – the berries are gone but they are perfect for displaying bits and pieces, including pom poms and paper hearts that Heather cut with her Cricut machine.
