Saturday night ramblings

December 3, 2005

Well it’s Saturday night again and I am spending it on my sofa in front of the TV again! I am not depressed about this in any way. In fact I am reveling in the comfort and warmth of my front room, the big bottle of Diet Coke with Lime, the fish finger sandwiches and especially the big sticky bun that I have devoured!

Last night was pleasant but not as much fun as I had hoped. It was just myself and Jon, so we went out for a quiet drink. The pub was very busy and the bloody stupid woman behind me kept hitting me in the back and flicking her hair over her shoulder and hitting me with it. Then some idiot knocked over a drink on my lap which was fun! But the problem of the evening was Jon. Bless his heart he had a really bad week and lots going on so he was in the mood to get drunk. He was successful! He drank 2 drinks to my one and was in a ranting mood. That wouldn’t have bothered me but he made a comment that made me realise that perhaps he isn’t completely over me which makes things difficult. I think the best thing for us is not to go out drinking when it is just the two of us. I think I will try and not see him for a couple of weekends as I will see lots of him at home at Christmas.

Despite the fact that I went out last night I woke up at 7am and couldn’t go back to sleep. I didn’t mind waking up early today because I got a cup of tea and sat in bed watching cartoons, something that I haven’t done in months! I was happily enjoying Spongebob when ‘ping’ the electricity went. Bloody Girlie Number 2 hadn’t put her share on the key and mine had run out already. So at 8.30 I was staggering down the road to find a shop to put some on so that out freezer didn’t defrost. Dammit!

As I was up I decided to go into town and finish my Christmas shopping, which I did and I was back on my way out of town when it started to get busy at 10.30, mission accomplished!

More bad news when I got home, letter from the bank telling me I have been charged £30 and the rent hasn’t been paid. Got it sorted out Girlie Number 2 was the culprit again as she didn’t pay her money in on time so she can pay the £30 (I sure as hell can’t afford to!) I had a few choice words to say to her I can say. It’s all sorted now and she is paying the fee but I wasn’t very happy.

I’d had no food and a massive Chai Tea Latte so I was on a major caffeine high so tidied the front room, cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen! Then I had an after caffeine slump and I’ve been sat on the sofa ever since! Watched Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and then X Factor! Now I’m just wasting time until the results show starts!

Whilst jumping from link to link I found this article about grammar and blogging. I know my blogging is never perfect (I use too many exclamation marks!) but there are certain things that annoy me so it really struck a chord. Soulmining, I know you will like it!

Half a hour until I get my final fix of X Factor for tonight, then I think it will be time for bed and a film!

    Faster, Blogger! Kill! Kill! Kill!

I’m not alone! Thanks Kelly, it’s good to know I’m not the only punctuation pedant when it comes to blogging… although I do overuse ellipses and “…” but hey, that’s just my style.

She’s right about using italics and punctuation for emphasis too… and yup, I do edit, publish, edit, publish, edit and publish again.

Maybe I should get out more.

“…a cranky grammar bitch with blue pencil in hand…”

Blimey! Surely this wasn’t a reference to my mate Truss?
