Most weeknights before I go to sleep I listen to the Mark Radcliffe Show on Radio 2. He makes me laugh and usually plays some great music which is really diverse, and has some brilliant guests on.
Last night he had GOGOL BORDELLO on as guests. Well not all of them as there are meant to be 9 and there were only three – apparently the Spanish MC from Equador couldn’t make it through immigration. Where the other 5 had disappeared to I have no idea.
Mark Radcliffe started talking to one of the guys and he was saying how they pass the big drum out into the crowd and then he gets on top and crowd surfs. On the big drum. Then the sound guy gets a sound board and gets on top and surfs towards him and they have a wrestling match and then they throw up on the crowd and then he starts talking in tongues for the next two days explaining how the future will be (okay it is obviously somewhere along the line this guy slipped from truth into fiction but it was so weird!) Mark tried to get the conversation back on track by suggesting you should wear waterproofs but the guy just pipes up and ‘No wear your best clothes, just bring goggles’.
If this wasn’t strange enough they then proceeded to perform live the song about the Chinese Lesbians entitled ‘Greencard Husband’.
My head was reeling from all this when Mark read out a dedication to a woman that had written in telling Mark about her new cat – her old cat had died from a uniary tract infection, she was sad but coping – but the new cat was very different in temperment than the old cat and she was thinking of calling him Bertie after Kate Bush.
Mark Radcliffe rounded it all of by playing Kate Bush – Babooshka.
Somewhere around the cat bit I seriously began to doubt my mental health. Is it any wonder I spent the night having crazy dreams?
