When I considered my first entry for the Washed Earth mosaic contest at Stitched in Color I realised that as usual I had gone with a lot of saturated colours. I can’t help it I just love colour and that can easily be seen in my fabric stash. Low volume are not really words in my vocabulary!
Luckily you can make two entries so I really pushed myself to find a completely different colour scheme to my first one.
As I chose the fabrics I found myself thinking of the cold early mornings that I have to endure with Kate. She is such an early riser that at this time of year I find myself up in the dark again. At 5am it is still dark but getting a little soft around the edges outside. It is usually cloudy as the sun comes up and everything is washed with a cool light. Everything feels soft and gentle, and it makes waking properly slower but kinder. I make tea and we cuddle under blankets. The world slowly reveals itself to us as we watch out the window for other signs of life stirring.
There are some small benefits to being up so early.
